Spider workshop with Kazakhstan student

The spider workshop with Kazakhstan student (13-16 years old) were aim to nurture their interest to our precious spiders that is found in Malaysia. The workshop started with student experiencing to hunt and find spiders in the botanical garden by themselves. Searching for such small creatures like spiders hiding in dense shrubs and complexed plants can be very challenging for first timers. However, most of the students managed to find at least 1 individual spider each.

Next, in the laboratory, students were provided with dissecting microscope, forceps, petri dish, ethanol and a spider book. They would need to examine the spider they captured using these provided equipments. Everything is hands-on done by the students themselves.

I am very lucky to be one of the facilitator for this spider workshop. Hopefully, they enjoy the session and at least bring great memory from this short session.
