Synopsis: Spiders can be found in almost any part of our surroundings, but have been largely ignored by many researchers in Malaysia. There is very limited information on the types of Malaysian spiders available for research and public reference. Cognizant of this deficiency, we took the initiative to write this book to nurture and cultivate interests about the spider fauna found in this country. This guide book is written in a way that is easy to understand, accompanied with images and illustrations that can assist in determining the spider groups. It provides at least 160 genera from 30 families of common spiders in Malaysia. The description is based on the genera although there may be exceptions to some species that are categorized within the respective groups. This book may serve as a general guide for researchers and the general public to appreciate and understand more about the spider fauna of Malaysia
Hi, I've bought your book at the recent KLIBF 2016. Not bad for an introductory level. I could use it as my catalyst to learn more. But would like to go for an outing with you to learn too. Do you organise walks or trips? If you're an MNS member, would you join in the Nature Guides SIG? We're always looking out for volunteers to share and organise walks for fellow MNS members. It may influence others to buy your books too :)
ReplyDeleteHi. Thanks for buying the spider book. I really appreciate it. I was thinking of joining as MNS member sometimes next year. I'm really glad you pointed this out. Thanks.
DeleteHi again, during the KDCF Open Day on 20th Aug, I had one child among my tour group, who was seemingly uninterested about the plants and fungi I spoke about. Instead she kept pointing out the spiders that she saw at her eye level. I am unable to pinpoint to specific family/genus from your book. Would you have an FB account so that I can share the photo my friend took? Cheers.
ReplyDeleteHi. I dont have FB account. You can email me: dzul_3my@yahoo.com
DeleteHi.... Is your spider book still available for purchase? Please get back to me at ajnilsen at online.no
